Report on web accessibility in alignment with the Office for Civil Rights (OCR)

university

Why is the OCR contacting higher education organizations about accessibility?

As recipients of Title IV federal funds, nearly all US colleges and universities are subject to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Rehabilitation Act).

This means you have a responsibility to provide equal access to everyone, including people with disabilities across your information technology.

In an effort to prevent formal and costly complaints, the Office for Civil Rights is proactively contacting organizations to report on their state of web accessibility.
